As an older woman, I’m often treated as invisible, inconvenient, or unwanted. Instead of shrinking, I use it as fuel. Time has given me urgency. These labels bind me to the true subjects of my practice.
My work—painting, printmaking, photography—is a kind of alchemy. Drawing on Byzantine iconography, Klimt, and Margaret MacDonald, I gather the discarded at the edges of human attention and lift them into the light. I take what is overlooked and render it luminous. I turn “rubbish” into royalty through recognition: the radical act of seeing. I honour resilience and reframe stories with dignity and affection. In this portfolio are some of the results of this rationale.
